The Gurkha Service No. 1 Kukri is the most famous and widely recognized Gurkha knife, officially issued to the Gurkha soldiers and Nepal Army as their standard military kukri. Carried throughout their service and often kept for life, this kukri is treasured as a symbol of honor and tradition. Featuring a 10.25-inch hand-forged blade made of 5160 high-carbon steel (sourced from truck springs), it is water-tempered for a razor-sharp edge and long-lasting durability. The 5.25-inch buffalo horn handle is highly polished and built with a rat-tail tang for strength. The blade spine measures about 3/8″ thick, ensuring excellent balance for both utility and ceremonial use. The kukri comes with a cotton-covered buffalo leather sheath with double belt loops and includes two traditional companion knives: the Karda (for small cutting/skinning tasks) and the Chakmak (for sharpening and blade care).
